I have over 20 years of experience providing patent services to a wide range of clients including individuals, high-technology companies, and national laboratories.

Before becoming a patent agent, I studied Aeronautics at Caltech and Mechanical Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley, where I earned a PhD, before starting my first career as a research engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. While at Sandia, I conducted applied experimental and computational research in many technical areas, including high-pressure propellant combustion, air pollution control and mitigation, nuclear waste disposal, advanced energy systems, and processing of semiconductor wafers.

After becoming a patent agent registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (Reg. No. 45,186), I worked at several highly-respected law firms, where I prosecuted U.S. patents, assisted foreign associates in prosecuting foreign patents, and drafted infringement and validity opinions.

My current practice focuses on working with independent inventors, high-tech start ups, and established businesses. The services that I provide include:

  • conducting patent searches to determine if your invention is patentable;
  • preparing provisional patent application, utility patent applications, and design patent application;
  • representing clients before the US Patent and Trademark Office;
  • strategic patent portfolio planing; and
  • developing and implementing strategic plans for patent portfolios.

For questions of litigation, patent infringement, and other issues involving the law, I work together with legal counsel.
